Thanksgiving event aims to attract, retain visiting talent

A Thanksgiving party aims to attract and retain former west Michiganders traveling home for the holidays.

“The development that’s occurred, the job creation and opportunities that have occurred in the past couple years, really tends to take somebody by surprise.”

That’s Tim Mroz with The Right Place.

The economic development agency and Hello West Michigan are teaming up for the fourth annual ReThink West Michigan – a free event that’s part party, and part networking.

“This year we have over 15 companies that will be participating in the event – large companies like Spartan Nash and Amway, organizations like the Grand Rapids Public Schools," he says, "all the way down to tech start-ups and a lot of entrepreneurs.”

Mroz says you could think of it as a re-introduction.

“The idea is, as people – as many people travel back to the region for the holidays, it’s to reintroduce them to some of the great things that are happening in west Michigan," he says. "And connect employers that currently have job openings and career opportunities to the folks that may be visiting.”

ReThink WM starts at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening and runs until 8 at EVE on the fourth floor of the B.O.B.
