Authorities say a man died in a car crash one day after a sheriff in southwestern Michigan helped save him from an apparent drug overdose. The Kalamazoo County sheriff's office on Thursday confirmed the connection between the overdose rescue and the fatal crash.
Sheriff Richard Fuller was at a restaurant on May 15 when he noticed two men in a vehicle who appeared to be passed out. He called for help and joined a sheriff's deputy in administering Narcan, a drug that reverses overdoses. The department says one of the men was 28-year-old Kevin AJ Alleshouse of White Pigeon. The next day, Alleshouse died when the car he was driving crashed into the rear of a car hauler.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology tests before determining the cause of the crash.
